Fuel Surcharge Calculator for Trucking
FSC Calculator works out a per-mile fuel surcharge from the current U.S. on-highway diesel price published weekly by the EIA. Enter your truck's miles per gallon, pick the national average or a regional price, and see the surcharge per mile and for the whole trip.
How the fuel surcharge is calculated
The surcharge covers the difference between today's diesel price and a base price that is already built into the line-haul rate. This calculator uses a $3.50 per gallon base: (current diesel price − $3.50) ÷ MPG = fuel surcharge per mile. At $4.10 diesel and 6 MPG, that is $0.10 per mile.
Who uses it
Shippers checking a carrier invoice, owner-operators pricing a load, and dispatchers who need a quick, consistent number for flatbed, dry van, reefer and hotshot freight. It is free and needs no account.
Diesel prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration weekly retail on-highway diesel survey.
